county chief was in our area this evening. we have that story. >> law enforcement leaders who worked closely on the d.c. sniper investigation gathered here in washington to reminisce about the case. tonight's event is not about john allen muhammad and his young accomplice but the victims and their families. during the fall of 2002, people who lived in d.c., maryland, or virginia, all for their daily routines because they were paralyzed by fear they would be the next victim of a random sniper attack. like i remember seeing a lady on her hands and knees putting gas in her car. she was obviously hiding. >> he is a retired lieutenant from the maryland state police department who worked closely on the d.c. sniper investigation. he and other law enforcement leaders including the former montgomery county police chief reflected on the case during a panel discussion hosted by the national law enforcement museum.

a sentence without parole. >> wbal tv 11 news. >> baltimore police have made an arrest in the shooting on the campus of morgan state university. >> kelly lamont ellerbee jr. was arrested shortly after 2:00 today. he was identified by witnesses at the scene. we have the latest. >> according to investigators, the suspect, kelly lamont ellerbee jr. and the victim, michael campbell, r acquaintance's engaged in a dispute over drugs before the shooting on the board is the university campus last wednesday. >> it was not a random encounter. both the victim and the suspect knew each other. >> kelly lamont ellerbee jr. was arrested and charged on tuesday. there is already an arrest warrant out on him for a

separate case involving drugs from last month. michael campbell is still in the campbell -- in the hospital, being treated for gunshot wound. he was on campus to visit his cousin, a member of the university football team. >> it might have been a chance meeting with the location was not connected to the incident itself. they just happened to be there at the same time. >> the shooting took place in a university student bathroom. police found a shell casing into buttons on the bathroom floor. witnesses reported seeing kelly lamont ellerbee jr. running from the bathroom before the campus was placed on lockdown. investigators are not providing details in what happened the moments before the shots were fired. >> we do have witnesses who were there at the scene and through their talking with us, but were able to identify kelly lamont ellerbee jr. as our suspect. >> there was a multi vehicle
